
On Saturday November 15th the Antigua and Barbuda Association of Georgia (ABAG) will be holding its annual Independence Banquet in observance of the country’s 44th anniversary of independence.
The Antigua and Barbuda Association of Georgia is a non-profit organization, and the official cultural representative of Antigua and Barbuda in the Atlanta area, which has been in existence since 2003.
This year’s banquet will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Norcross, Georgia and will be headlined by Antigua and Barbuda’s own Soca Champion Empress.
This year marks the 20th year that the organization is hosting this gala event, which is the main fund raiser for the group. Tickets for the event can be secured by contacting any member of the planning committee, headed by President Irvin Colbourne.
The Association’s Annual Independence Church Celebration was held on Sunday, November 8,2025, at Columbia Drive Church of God of Prophecy in Decatur, Georgia.
Over the years, ABAG has donated to many causes in Antigua and Barbuda including several schools, the Barbuda hurricane disaster effort, the Training School, and the Fiennes Institute to name a few.
A few years ago, ABAG partnered with the University of the West Indies (UWI- Five Islands campus- Antigua) in sponsoring several students pursuing a new course of study leading to a certificate in Gerontological Care, which was designed to train persons who were working in the field or were interested in the same.
ABAG joins with the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda to wish the nation a happy independence.
