Antigua and Barbuda and China deepen Relationship with the twinning of Cities
On the fringes of the Ministerial Conference of the 4th China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum in Hainan China (September 12 – 14, 2024), a bi-lateral meeting concluded with a signing ceremony of the letter of intent to establish a sister
city relationship between Sanya City and St. John’s.
Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Foreign AMairs, Trade and Barbuda AMairs E. P Chet Greene and the Vice Mayor of the People’s Government of Sanya City Yin Chengling signed the contract on behalf of the two cities.
According to the letter of intent, both parties agreed to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two cities on the premise of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit; and to develop exchanges and
cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, economy, trade, culture and other fields.
Included in the letter of intent was a framework for leaders and relevant departments of both parties to maintain regular contact, conduct friendly consultations on exchanges, and cooperate on matters and issues of common concern.
The establishment of a sister city relationship between Sanya City and St. John’s will further promote multi-field cooperation between the two parties, eMectively benefit the people of the two cities, and inject new impetus into friendly exchanges in the new era.

How would this even work considering the government’s complete and total opposition to any and ALL forms of local government. This appears to be more like an agreement between the Antiguan and Barbudan government and Sanya City.

I wholeheartedly agreed with Caustic. GB has continually forged relationships with rogue countries. China has an appealing track record on human rights, there is nothing “mutual” about the Chinese, they are extremely subtly and conning and wouldn’t hesitate to throw a person under a moving train to protect their interests.
The Chinese has violated the rights of citizens in Africa, they have chained Africans and beat them in Kenya and other parts of Africa. They have Africans as young as 10 years old working in mines for pittance.
In addition ALP has given the Chinese prime land in Pears.. the Chinese has fenced off the land including the road and no one knows what they are using the land off.
The Chinese are running a mock in Antigua and they do not invest their money in Antigua, their money is sent to Beijing. If this administration continues allowing them to go unchecked we will soon become a territory of China.
