It estimates that transitioning to a diversified and sustainable energy mix could yield significant net benefits, including reducing fossil fuel imports by 260 million barrels and cutting carbon emissions by 41 million tonnes across the region by 2040.

Despite its potential, the renewable energy transition faces challenges, including high upfront costs for infrastructure and limited access to financing.
