Anthony Smith Jr. Contributes Over $20,000 to All Saints West Football Clubs
All Saints West MP Anthony Smith Jr. says more than $20,000 has been invested in football clubs within his constituency as part of ongoing support for youth and community development.
Smith announced that he contributed $10,000 in total on Tuesday evening to the Sea View Farm and Freemans Village football clubs, marking the second round of funding for the teams this season.
“Investing in our youth and supporting sports development in All Saints West is not optional; it’s essential. When we strengthen our clubs, we strengthen our communities,” Smith said in a statement.
He noted that from the start of the season, a commitment was made to treat both clubs equally, with identical contributions provided in the first round and again in the second.
“Fairness and consistency matter,” he said, adding that young people deserve “opportunity, structure, and support.”
Smith said the initiative forms part of a broader effort to continue strengthening community engagement through sports.

When money comes easy that is peanut change. Just wondering what fraction of the buy out is the $20,000. Will not be voting for you as an ABLP candidate next time around, you betrayed me without prior explanation that was very disrespectful, you have shown you true colour. You are right where you belong
A very important contribution in helping sporting clubs initiatives going, and keeping our young men occupied and out of trouble.
They’ll be commentators out there that will try to make political capital out of what former UPP member Anthony Smith is doing.
Not me on this occasion.
Even though I’m one of Smith’s harshest critics on his desertion from the UPP. However, i’m looking at the bigger picture here for the All Saints community, especially with rising thefts and criminal activities in the area in recent times.
Hopefully, the ABLP will find more funding for recreational opportunities and activities for the youth throughout Antigua & Barbuda 🇦🇬
He’s certainly buying votes and at the same time destroying the playing field by storing tons of loads of limestone on the northern end. If you want to see very bad roads and mediocre road works, go to Seaview Farm.
@ Brixtonian
I guess if the devil donated money to the church that would be ok with you too. Not all contributions are worth taking. To me it’s as though I agree with your actions as a sell out. Anthony can more than afford that kind of cash now, he is just attempting to buy back the constituency
WONDERFUL NEWS!
not a thing so far from Limpy Joe, except trying to undermine his own leader. Good thing CROIF done lash he on JOAN show, so he better fall in line
@ Brixtonian,
Your optimism and goodwill are appreciated. But this wrong. My objection has nothing to do with criticism of the political doner.
I’m of the opinion individual politicians should not provide a penny to any individual or group unless he is doing do in conjunction with a community wide effort, or jointly contributing with philanthropist organizations.
When politicians contribute in this form it’s no different than buying votes.
It is the community, local and national businesses; as well as the government responsibly to provide skills training and youth services on a national and regional basis.
This is a form of soft corruption, and many will disagree for it’s not part of the fabric of the country. Politicians doing favors.
This may be an act of goodwill. I object to the late Asot Micheal in the way in which he supported St.Peters as well as any individual politician donating anything of monitory value on an individual basis.
It is the job of the Cabinet with input from the MP to determine what are the needs for capital expenditure across the country.

A good retort @All Saints West Voter.
I can’t argue with anyone with a lived experience such as you.
Please accept my sincere apologies my fellow UPP supporter. Have a blessed day 🙏🏾
@ Brixtonian
Apology accepted. I enjoy reading your comments, nothing wrong with a difference of opinion
@Brix.
If you are serious about stomping out the wide spread corruption in politics, it has to start here, otherwise your many calls for transparency is none and void.
This type of thing cannot happen if you seek to have corruption in the ABLP network be brought to account, it just can’t.
This is the same as insider trading,it’s wrong.
Did he use his personal funds to make those donations? Smith, you had better watch your weight.Looking really short and wider could become a health issue.Eating less from the trough would be a good idea.Exercising more would certainly help.
