Jumby Bay won Antigua & Barbuda’s leading resort while Blue Water Hotel and The Inn\u00a0 won for best hotel and best boutique hotel respectively.<\/p>\n

Meantime, the finest travel brands in the Caribbean have been unveiled at a star-studded gala ceremony in The Bahamas. The elite of the travel industry assembled for the World Travel Awards (WTA) Caribbean Gala Ceremony 2020<\/a>\u00a0to find out who amongst them had been crowned best of the best.<\/p>

The red carpet evening, hosted at\u00a0Sandals\u00ae Royal Bahamian<\/a>, marked the opening leg of the\u00a0WTA Grand Tour 2020<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 an annual search for the finest travel and tourism organisations in the world.<\/p>

Winners on the night included the paradise island of St. Lucia, which fended off stiff competition to emerge as \u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Honeymoon Destination\u2019, whilst Turks & Caicos was voted \u2018Caribbean’s Leading Beach Destination\u2019. Jamaica emerged a multiple winner, picking up trophies for \u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Destination\u2019, \u2018Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Destination\u2019 and \u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Tourist Board\u2019.<\/p>\n

Guests at the gala event enjoyed entertainment from acclaimed Bahamian artists including Alia Coley and Partice Murrell. The evening took place on the eve of the 38th edition of\u00a0Caribbean Travel Marketplace<\/a>.<\/p>

Graham Cooke, Founder, WTA, said: \u201cWhat an incredible evening it has been here at the magnificent Sandals Royal Bahamian to mark the opening of our 27th annual Grand Tour. In the hospitality sector, winners included Jamaica\u2019s Round Hill Hotel & Villas (\u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Villa Resort\u2019); Beaches Turks & Caicos (\u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading All-Inclusive Family Resort\u2019); Coco Reef Resort & Spa, Tobago (\u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Hotel\u2019); and GoldenEye (\u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Boutique Resort\u2019). The relentless drive to innovate helped Sandals to lift the title of \u2018Caribbean’s Leading Hotel Brand\u2019. The secluded sanctuary Amanera in Dominican Republic was heralded \u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Beach Resort\u2019.<\/p>

Bahamian winners included Atlantis, Paradise Island, which claimed the title of \u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Casino Resort\u2019 and The Bahamas was named \u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Luxury Island Destination\u2019.<\/p>

Newcomers included the hideaway retreat of Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski Dominica (\u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading New Resort\u2019) and AC Hotel Kingston, Jamaica (\u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading New Hotel\u2019).<\/p>\n

In the aviation sector, Bahamasair was named \u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Airline\u2019, whilst Sangster International Airport, Jamaica walked away with \u2018Caribbean\u2019s Leading Airport\u2019.<\/p>\n

Events on the WTA Grand Tour 2020 include Antalya (Turkey), Seoul (South Korea), Nairobi (Kenya), Thompson Okanagan, British Columbia (Canada) and Dubai (UAE), with the winners progressing to the Grand Final in Moscow (Russia) on 27th November.<\/p>\n
