The government says the Mount St. John Medical Center (MSJMC) will strengthen its maxillofacial surgery program that allows reconstruction of the face\u00a0and other parts of the head following the detection and removal of cancerous tissue.<\/p>

The surgery is utilized to end\u00a0malignant<\/span><\/a>\u00a0pathology, caused by either oral\u00a0or neck cancer<\/span><\/a>, with ablative and\u00a0reconstructive surgery<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cabinet announced recently that a Cuban surgeon with this specialty has been added to the MSJMC staff, \u201cand the number of patients who would previously have to travel abroad may now elect to have the surgery undertaken in Antigua.\u201d<\/p>
