The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) commemorated the completion of its 9 week vessel refurbishment project.<\/p>

Referred to as the \u201cMidlife Project\u201d by the relevant stakeholders, the US $597,566.80 venture was undertaken through joint partnership between local (ABDF) and international parties.<\/p>\n

Specifically, the US State Department, who fully funded the project through US Embassy Bridgetown, the US Technical Assistance Field Team (TAFT), which facilitated the process, and SAFE Boats international, who were contracted to undertake the job.<\/p>

Further, SAFE is also the developer of the refurbished vessels. The vessels (D-7 & D-8) were first brought into the service of the ABDF in November of 2012 under the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) Project.<\/p>

The vessels have since been used as the Force\u2019s primary assets in both maritime safety and the security of the Nation\u2019s maritime borders.<\/p>\n
