The Executive Members of the Police Welfare Association (PWA) have met with the Cabinet of Antigua & Barbuda seeking to bring relief to the men and women who work and live at the St John\u2019s Police Station.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The PWA noted that the Newgate Street station is in a state of neglect and are lobbying the government to have repairs and upgrade to the police officer living quarters undertaken quickly. Approximately 100 officers now reside and work there.<\/p>\n

Reportedly, strong odours from the cells on the first floor of the building\u00a0 have made it very difficult for officers to work upstairs. The Police are frequently compelled to move their work station elsewhere.<\/p>

The PWA made several proposals to Cabinet in order to fix the deficiencies. Cabinet has promised to examine the options and to make a decision soon.<\/p>
