Guilty – the verdict found by the jury after three hours of deliberation this morning in the case of police constable Joseph Peters.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Peters was charged with conspiracy to extort and demanding money with intent to extort. The prosecution successfully argued that he used his position as a lawman to intimidate a 57 year-old business man into paying $150,000 and a vehicle as hush money for having sex with an under-aged girl.<\/p>\n

In 2015, the businessman is alleged to have had sexual relations with two young women at a condominium, one of them was under the age of 16.<\/p>

The court also heard that Peters, another man, the two young women, and the mother of the younger female all came up with the scheme to entrap the businessman and to extort him for $200,000 which as to be shared among them equally.<\/p>\n

Peters faces up to seven years in Her Majesty’s Prison at his sentencing hearing set for December 12.<\/p>
