After three years in opposition, the United Progressive Party (UPP)\u00a0has regrouped, strengthened its base, and is ready to retake the reins of governance. To demonstrate its readiness, the Party will formally ratify its candidates at a Presentation Ceremony on Sunday November 5, 2017.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event will be like a mini convention,\u201d explained Senator Lovell, Political Leader.<\/p>

\u201cIn preparation for the next general elections, the UPP will present a slate of 16 persons, previously appointed as Caretakers for the Party, who will be officially confirmed as candidates.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“The people of Antigua and Barbuda are in search of a new vision, new direction, new ideas and a new perspective,\u201d Lovell said. \u201cWe have mobilized a vibrant, focused and committed team that will \u2018Restore Pride and Prosperity\u2019 in Antigua and Barbuda.”<\/p>\n

The team, described as \u2018people-guided and business-minded,\u2019 is touted as an astute mix of experience and youthful energy; it includes a number of new personalities with established connections in their communities, as well as political veterans.<\/p>

Over the past year, these Candidates-Elect have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the Party\u2019s mobilization efforts and dialogue with their constituents. Out of these efforts, they have identified the key issues and remedial programs that will improve the lives of citizens in their respective communities.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, at the November 5th event, the UPP Leadership will also present innovative and transformative policy platforms to help build a better nation. \u201cWe will demonstrate to the people of Antigua and Barbuda that the UPP has listened keenly to their concerns, hopes and aspirations,” Senator Lovell stated.<\/p>

Going forward, the Party will continue to employ effective communications tools \u2013 including public consultations and focus groups that provide feedback – to ensure that its vision and message are actually delivered to the people of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>
