Caribbean destinations affected by recent hurricanes have been told that they need not worry about their timeshare owners.<\/p>

President of the American Resort Development Association Howard Nusbaum told reporters in Miami on Tuesday that the timeshare tourist will be among the first to return after a disaster.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Timeshare owners because they own a piece of that real estate, they come back year after year,” Nusbaum said.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He was speaking to reporters at the 19th Shared Ownership Investment Conference which opened in Miami Tuesday.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The association president said because the properties are already paid for the owners are sure to return after a hurricane or other disaster.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Hurricanes ravaged several islands in the Caribbean whose economies depend heavily on tourism.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The timeshare expert said owners will also return to check on their properties are more likely to contribute to the rebuilding of the island.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Nusbaum is of the view that the economic impact of timeshare tourist is also greater than those who stay in hotels.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“They spend money in the community differently from a hotel guest,” he said.<\/div>\n
