Akeem Daawuud of Potters, who was charged by the police over the weekend with possession of firearm and ammunition and other drugs related offences, was fined $35,800 in the St. Johns Magistrate\u2019s Court on Monday.<\/p>\n

The third youngest of the Daawuud brothers appeared before Chief Magistrate Walsh charged with Possession of Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Cannabis, Being Concern in the Supplying of Cannabis, Possession of Cannabis with intent to transfer, Possession of Ecstasy, Being Concern in the Supplying of Ecstasy and Possession of Ecstasy with intent to transfer.<\/p>

He pleaded guilty and was convicted and fined $20,000 or 2 years for Possession of Firearm and $7,000 or 2 years for possession of ammunition. He was further fined an additional $8,000 or 2 years for Possession of Cannabis with intent to transfer, and $800 or 6 months for Possession of Ecstasy. He was reprimanded on the charge of simple possession while the other charges were withdrawn before the Court.<\/p>

Akeem was taken into custody along with four siblings on Friday, following an intelligence-led operation by officers attached to CID and the Rapid Response Unit. The police found a .380 pistol along with seven matching rounds of ammunition and drugs inside their home. However, after further investigations were conducted into the matter,<\/p>\n

Akeem was the only one charged for the offences.<\/p>
