Former Police Commissioner Rawlston Pompey is describing as “comedic and laughable” the reasons given by\u00a0 the Police Service Commission for the dismissal of Wendell Robinson.<\/p>

Robinson was fired yesterday after serving 32 years as a police officer. The PSC said he was being removed from office in the public interest.<\/p>\n

“On the issue at hand, the reasons given for his removal from office, appear rather \u2018\u2026Comedic and Laughable\u2019 Pompey said in a blog post.<\/p>

He said, “Not only that, the Commissioners appeared to have made a public spectacle of their obvious \u2018\u2026ill-informed collective decision.\u2019<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The former top cop says it is clear that the Police Service Commission (PSC) may have misguided itself.<\/p>\n

Among reasons given by the PSC for his dismissal is that he lacks the right temperament.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“It is also evident that members may have attributed a different meaning to the word \u2018\u2026.temperament.\u2019 This simply means \u2018\u2026a person with an angry disposition or one who easily becomes \u2018\u2026emotional.\u2019<\/p>\n

These were never the reasons (subjective and ministerial complaints) given for his \u2018\u2026almost two year-suspension\u2019 [April 5, 2018].”<\/p>

Pompey said adding insult to injury, the PSC cited \u2018\u2026fractious relationship\u2019 with the Minister with responsibility for the Police\u2019 [October 15, 2019 & November 24, 2019].<\/p>

“For this, it begs these fundamental questions;<\/p>\n

(i) \u2018\u2026Did the \u2018PSC or the Public Safety Minister\u2019 employ Wendell Robinson?<\/p>\n

(ii) \u2026Was it Prime Minister Gaston Browne who signified his approval for his \u2018\u2026appointment to the office of Commissioner\u2019 [CO: 1981: Section 105 (3)].<\/p>\n

(iii) \u2026Is the Public Safety Minister subordinate to the PSC?<\/p>\n

(iv) \u2026Are both the Commissioner and the Public Safety Minister subordinate to the Prime Minister?<\/p>\n

(v) \u2026Is the PSC charged with responsibility to ensure stable relations between the Commissioner and the Minister with responsibility for the Police?<\/p>\n

(vi)\u2026Did the Minister complain to the PSC of strained relations between Commissioner Robinson and himself?<\/p>\n

(vii) \u2026Did the PSC act at the behest of the Public Safety Minister? or<\/p>\n

(viii) \u2026Was the Minister\u2019s position merely used as a guise to perpetrate this dastardly and cowardly act?”<\/p>\n

The retired commissioner and commentator says he anticipates that such decision may see the Judiciary visited upon the Police Service Commission (PSC) for a possible third time.<\/p>\n

Robinson has been on suspension for nearly two years with pay.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
