The sudden passing of Vaughn Walter, OBE has come as a shock to the nation of Antigua and Barbuda.\u00a0 For the past ten years, he served as Director of Culture and approached his\u00a0responsibilities fearlessly\u00a0–\u00a0with\u00a0perseverance and a will to succeed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He was passionate about the preservation and exposition of Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s culture locally, regionally and internationally. He embodied our history and heritage through his involvement in\u00a0areas such as singing, acting, costume making and design,\u00a0playing mas, \u00a0and\u00a0musical composition.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

He was a people\u2019s person, always jovial and friendly.\u00a0 He inspired everyone with whom he came into contact,\u00a0urging them\u00a0always to have a positive view about life. He was enthused about leading the charge for our nation\u2019s hosting of\u00a0Carifesta\u00a0in 2022, and was poised to ensure that this investment\u00a0resulted in a monumental outcome.\u00a0\u00a0Sadly, his life was cut short.<\/p>

Vaughn has been my patient and\u00a0friend for many years.\u00a0 We spent a considerable amount of time discussing a myriad of topics –\u00a0from politics, to health, to world affairs.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the\u00a0nation of Antigua and Barbuda, and on\u00a0behalf of my family and myself,\u00a0I extend sincerest\u00a0condolences to you\u00a0and to the entire Walter family on the passing of your loved one.\u00a0 May God grant you comfort at this time of bereavement.<\/p>
