The Jamaican man who was declared persona non grata (an unwelcome person) and was remanded to prison until his deportation matter comes up for hearing, has now been released.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Antigua News Room (ANR)\u00a0understands that the man\u2019s attorney filed for an injunction to challenge the government’s move.<\/p>\n

Reports are that a High Court judge granted the release order and the Jamaican man is out until the application is heard.\u00a0ANR was unable to ascertain when this hearing will take place, and attempts to reach the attorney general for comment proved futile.<\/p>

According to reports, attempts were made to have the man removed from the state without him being afforded the opportunity to challenge the declaration.<\/p>

An attorney was retained and those attempts were halted and a date set for hearing of the matter.<\/p>\n

The man reportedly has strong family ties to the country, including children who were born here. This is something the court will consider in determining the man\u2019s fate<\/p>
