Currently being held in London from November 4 \u2013 November 6, 2019, World Travel Market is the world\u2019s leading conference for the travel industry plays host to exhibitors, buyers, media, and industry professionals all looking to network and negotiate with members of the tourism community.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Commenting on day one of the event, Minister Fernandez said that, \u201cIt\u2019s been a very positive start to the week with productive trade meetings and media interviews. The next few days bring more interviews, meetings and speaking panels and we are excited to see the impact the conference will bring to our islands.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

The visiting delegation alongside the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority\u2019s UK Director of Tourism Cherrie Osborne and her team, has so far met with Virgin Holidays, Travel Day, Best At Travel, Air Canada Vacations and Funway.\u00a0\u00a0There were also media interviews with\u00a0The History Channel,<\/i>\u00a0a history-based television network focused on uncovering the fascinating history and culture of destinations across the world and\u00a0Breaking Travel News<\/i>, a leading travel news site in the UK, amongst others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

<\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>Antigua and Barbuda<\/a><\/span>\u00a0stand was buzzing with activity as meetings concluded with a networking social attended by over fifty of the UK\u2019s leading social media influencers. The influencers enjoyed engaging with the stand\u2019s vibrant flower wall, where they had to take photos for social media and\u00a0Capture Their Cool<\/i>, as a continuation of the recent #whatcoollookslike marketing campaign. This was for a chance to win a bag of coveted Antiguan goodies. The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority has held highly successful global influencer conferences in Antigua in 2018 and 2019. Discussions are presently on-going for possible partnerships for 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

As part of their commitment to sustainability, the Tourism Authority also partnered with charitable organisation,\u00a0Just a Drop<\/i>, at WTM, who helps provide clean water and sanitation and lesser developed countries. The Tourism Authority sponsored one of Just a Drop\u2019s water coolers on their stand at WTM in a bid to encourage WTM\u2019s visitors to refill their bottles and prevent the use of single use plastics at the show.<\/span><\/p>

The day ended on a high note with the Tourism Authority scooping up several awards, including Best Consumer Feature, Best Broadcast TV Feature and Best Social Media Campaign, at the annual CTO Caribbean Travel Media Awards.<\/span><\/p>\n
