Antigua and Barbuda and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan established diplomatic relations on Wednesday, September 27 with the signing of a Joint Communique at the Permanent Mission of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordon to the United Nations.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

The Communique was signed by Dr. Walton Webson, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Nations and Sima Sami Bahous, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Jordan to the United Nations.<\/p>\n

The Communique now provides a framework for Antigua and Barbuda and Jordan to begin exploring areas of mutual interest.\u00a0 Ambassador Webson expressed his satisfaction with this step taken by the two countries noting that the Communique would allow for more bilateral interaction including in areas of tourism and economic cooperation.\u00a0 Ambassador Bahous of Jordan signaled his Government\u2019s interest in having a mutually supportive relationship with Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is located in the Middle East and became a member of the United Nations in 1955.<\/p>

The establishment of diplomatic relations with Jordan is part of the wider thrust of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda to pursue new partnerships with the aim of advancing the country\u2019s economic growth and development.<\/p>\n
