The Ministry of Education is asking private schools to submit information to the ministry on Barbudan students who have been admitted into their learning institutions.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

Director of Education Clare Browne said it is very important that the education ministry is provided with information on every Barbudan student now engaged in studies in Antigua.<\/p>\n

Barbudans were temporarily evacuated to Antigua following the passage of Hurricane Irma which ravaged the island weeks ago.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/div>\n

Students have been integrated into government schools here, while some private institutions assisted\u00a0by offering scholarships to the\u00a0young Barbudans.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Browne\u00a0has expressed appreciation to the management teams of the private schools for the initiative, but said the ministry needs to account for all the Barbudan students.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome Barbudan parents would have gone directly to private schools and would have enrolled their students. We have absolutely no difficulty with that, but we need to track where the students are,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>

\u201cOnce a private school takes in a student through scholarship or otherwise, we want that information to be forwarded to the Ministry of Education. We have a list of all the Barbudan students and we want to account for everyone,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The director of education said the ministry wants to ensure that whatever entitlements are afforded to Barbudan students in the government system, those enrolled in private schools will benefit,\u00a0once they can be located.<\/p>
