KFC (Antigua) has been severely hampered because of a lack of poultry on the island following the passage of Hurricanes Irma, Jos\u00e9 and Maria over the past two weeks.<\/p>

All three branches on island \u2013 High St, Fort Road and the recently opened Old Parham Road \u2013 have effectively been closed since Monday evening due to, \u201cthe storms here and in north Florida where our poultry ships from being affected\u201d, according to a senior KFC official.<\/p>\n

There has been a general poultry shortage on the island since the storms, and a local shipping agent explains that, \u201ca lot of that cargo was stuck in ports we couldn\u2019t access\u201d.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

\u201cTransshipment points, St Thomas, USVI and St Maarten got badly damaged.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe are a franchise and have to adhere to brand standards and utilize only approved products and we are barred from using just any poultry and other ingredients,\u201d the KFC official explains.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe shipping logistics through places like St Maarten have affected us.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The local franchise expects a full shipment of poultry in short order and expects to resume normal operations Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n

The reopen timeline, however, is contingent on a reasonable turnaround time of containers en route that must pass through the St Maarten port which has been severely compromised due to Irma\u2019s passage.<\/p>
