The Japanese government has come to the aid of Antigua and Barbuda by providing 36 thousand US dollars worth of emergency relief supplies on the request of the Antiguan government.<\/p>

The representative of the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) Tetsuhiro Ike made the presentation Friday at the VC Bird International Airport.<\/p>\n

Among the supplies are 30 sleeping tents, 180 sleeping pads, 10 plastic sheeting, 10 water filters and 250 foldable tanks.<\/p>

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Anthony Liverpool says the supplies will go a long way in helping NODS respond to the needs of Barbuda, following the passage of Hurricane Irma.<\/p>

Director of NODS Philmore Mullin was appreciative of the assistance received from the Japanese government.<\/p>\n

The JICA Resident Representative notes that the government and people of Japan hope for a speedy recovery for Barbuda and are confident of deeper ties between Antigua and Barbuda and Japan.<\/p>
