The unlawful act of breaking and entering into churches, schools and other buildings to commit a felony has become a concern for the police. Recently, police have been receiving complaints, where a number of churches and schools were allegedly broken into, and in some cases, valuable items reportedly stolen. Residents within the various communities are urged to be on the alert and report any suspicious activities around schools and churches to the police.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The public is further reminded that it is an offence for anyone to break and enter any place of divine worship with intent to commit a felony; according to Section 28 of the Larceny Act, Cap 241 of the Laws of Antigua and Barbuda, which refers to Sacrilege. \u00a0Anyone found guilty of committing such an offence can be sentenced up to seven years at Her Majesty\u2019s Prison.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Similarly, anyone who breaks and enters any dwelling-house, or building within a curtilage, schools, shops, warehouses, offices, stores, garage, pavilions, factories, workshops, or any other building to commit a felony, is also guilty of an offence under Section 30 of the said Act, and can be sentenced up to seven years in prison on an indictable charge, or two years if charged summarily.<\/p>

Residents can be assured of the police continued efforts in providing regular patrols around places of worship and learning institutions throughout Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>
