Court has stepped in to provide an immediate need for her and her family by donating a $2,550 washing machine to aid in the family\u2019s recovery from last week\u2019s disaster.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey identified a number of different items that they needed,\u201d says Senior Manager Jason Gilead, \u201cand they are trying to furnish an unfurnished house here on the island and we used the opportunity to step in.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

Lois had been employed as an unestablished worker at the Barbuda Post Office as a clerical assistant. She has now been reassigned to the Ministry of Agriculture here in Antigua.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re so glad that with this washing machine it will go a very long way.\u00a0 Little by little, our lives will return to normal. It takes time and it takes some healing, but our lives will return to normal,\u201d exudes the single mother.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very thankful for life, but we lost,\u201d she continues.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cMy plan right now, is to get my children into school. That\u2019s basically what\u2019s most important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cephas goes onto encourage, \u201cMy Barbudan people, to just have a little patience. Things are a little rough. Things are not as we\u2019re used to. We\u2019re always in our comfort zone. And God does everything for a reason, and we will return to Barbuda one day.\u201d<\/p>

The mother says she has not been back to the sister-isle and has no intention to return at this point in time.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The donation coincided with Courts Antigua Ltd. bedding month, September 4 to 29.<\/p>\n

For the past four years Courts has incorporated a charitable twist to the Bedding promotion around the OECS , in which charitable organizations have received cash donations from Courts. This year the company decided to donate to \u00a0the \u2018Martha\u2019s Ministry Feeding Programme\u2019 and the \u2018Antigua and Barbuda Association of Persons with Disabilities.\u2019<\/p>\n

For every bed, mattress, base, divans and pillow sold for the duration of the promotion, $20 will be given to the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

Courts Antigua Ltd has guaranteed a minimum of $3,000 donation regardless of the level of sales achieved.<\/p>\n
