Prime Minister Gaston Browne will, this weekend, journey to the United Nations General Assembly. He will use the opportunity to seek assistance for Barbuda.<\/p>

Browne is expected to meet with a number of Heads of Government, including Canada\u2019s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will spend about one week there, soliciting resources for the rebuilding effort. Already, he has a meeting planned with several Commonwealth prime ministers, including the Prime Minister of Canada,\u201d according to Chief of Staff Lionel \u201cMax\u201d Hurst.<\/p>

Prime Minister Browne will also meet with the head of delegations from several countries to whom he has already dispatched letters, informing of the devastation of Barbuda following the passage of Hurricane Irma, and what it will cost the nation\u00a0to rebuild.<\/p>

Other persons have commenced efforts to raise monies to assist Barbuda, including John Paul DeJoria and Calvin Ayre, a Canadian multi millionaire.<\/p>\n

DeJoria, a billionaire who has agreed to construct a $250 million project on the sister isle,\u00a0will begin a campaign to raise resources and to obtain building materials towards Barbuda\u2019s rebuilding. Dejoria is still interested in continuing\u00a0his project there.<\/p>

\u201cThe Cabinet will be informed in due course of the precise form which his efforts will take, and then the quantum of resources he has raised,\u201d the government said.<\/p>\n

Ayre is also seeking to help Antigua and Barbuda recover from the tragedy that was Hurricane Irma \u001band will travel to a number of Asian countries over the next four weeks in an attempt to convince several companies to establish a presence in the twin-island state.<\/p>

He has pledged to match one million dollars of his own money to funds raised by Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>
