The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has answered the call to help rebuild the electrical network in The Bahamas following the recent passage of Hurricane Dorian.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC), of which APUA is a member, issued a call to regional utility providers to assist in the rebuilding of the electrical transmission and distribution network in Abaco.<\/p>\n

Five (5) of APUA\u2019s linesmen were deployed to assist the Bahamian utility company, Bahamas Power and
\nLight Company (BPL) in their restoration efforts. The men departed Antigua on Saturday October 12th, 2019 for three (3) weeks.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

According to APUA Transmission and Distribution Engineer, Jason Peters, at the end of the three (3) week period, a determination will be made as to whether a second crew will be
\ndeployed to The Bahamas or there will be an extension for the original APUA delegation.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The linesmen form part of a total of 58 regional electrical technicians who will assist in the rebuilding efforts.<\/p>\n

They will be housed on the Abaco island in campsites for the duration of their stay.
\nAPUA has been a recipient of such support and is happy to assist its fellow utility provider following their recent devastation.<\/p>
