In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma, the Barbuda People\u2019s Movement (BPM) leader, Trevor Walker, recounts his and his family\u2019s own horrific experience and says that it will take \u201cyears\u201d to rebuild Barbuda.<\/p>

“We have to rebuild an island, rebuild an economy,\u201d laments the BPM leader. \u201cI mean the infrastructure is totally gone. All the infrastructure is damaged, communication is out and all the hotels on the island are damaged significantly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI got word from the manager of the Coco Point [Lodge] that they are not even thinking of reopening the hotel for this year.\u201d<\/p>

The main opposition leader, however, called for the Prime Minister Gaston Browne to, \u201cbring the country together and let us work in the interest of the people.\u201d<\/p>
