Minister of Education Michael Browne has said it will cost the government more than $42,000 to fix the ceiling in the computer lab at the Antigua and Barbuda International Institute of Technology (ABIIT).<\/span><\/p>

Browne reported to Cabinet on Wednesday<\/span><\/span> that the ceiling at the Coolidge facility fell in and that it was being repaired.<\/span><\/p>\n

The structure reportedly collapsed sometime earlier this week. No one was injured. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Antigua News Room<\/span><\/b>\u00a0(ANR) understands that the collapse resulted from a faulty air conditioning unit that was reportedly leaking. <\/span><\/p>

Minister Browne said financial resources to effect the repairs will be drawn from the Board of Education (BoE) <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Replacement of the ceiling, which is\u001b underway, is expected to be completed in time for the new semester on September 11<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>

Government\u2019s\u00a0Chief of Staff Lionel \u201cMax\u201d Hurst told ANR <\/b>that\u00a0<\/b>the government will get an update on the progress of the work on Friday<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hurst said, \u201cMany other school buildings received maintenance and improvement over the summer holidays.\u201d<\/span><\/p>
