As the start of a new school term draws nearer, the Sandals Foundation is continuing its support of three young women in Antigua by subsidising the cost of their secondary school education.<\/p>\n

For the fifth year running, Sandals Foundation\u2019s Care for Kids<\/em> scholarship programme has provided Nicola James of Princess Margaret Secondary, Beyonce Theodore of the Glanvilles Secondary, and Ken-Nya Thomas of the Antigua Girls High School, with scholarships to cover the costs associated with pursuing their education.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

The students, who have all been promoted to fifth form, secured the five-year scholarships for themselves in 2013 after they graduated from their various primary schools. Since then, the Sandals Foundation, the charitable arm of Sandals Resorts International, has sought to ease the financial burden on the parents and families of these students.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Odette Sweeney, mother of Nicola James, said with this year\u2019s funds she plans to buy a laptop to enable her daughter to complete her CXC School Based Assessments (SBAs).<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a mother of four and a cancer patient the scholarship has really helped be to be able to provide the things she needs; school supplies, books, uniforms, all of those things,\u201d Sweeney added.<\/p>

General Manager of Sandals Grande Antigua Gaurav \u201cMr G\u201d Sindhi handed over the cheques to the parents of the scholarship awardees at a lunch on Wednesday afternoon, as he congratulated them on a job well done over the last school year and wished them all the best in the new term.<\/p>\n
