UPP AND DNA IN WAR OF WORDS<\/p>

The newly formed Democratic National Alliance, (DNA) and the main opposition United Progressive Party, are in a war of words over statements allegedly made by Senator Harold Lovell.<\/p>\n

The DNA is taking issue the UPP leader after he reportedly pledged to \u201cbrutally deal\u201d with the new political party.<\/p>

In a statement, DNA political leader Joanne Massiah said, Lovell\u2019s remarks came at a time when \u201cthe majority of persons in our community are outraged at the growing use of violence which is crippling our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Lovell on Tuesday dismissed the DNA, saying he won\u2019t give the party the time of day.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really are not going to become embroiled in any sideshow with DNA,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur strategy in response to that is to stay focused on the ABLP and deal with the DNA at the doorstep with our base, not in the public media but brutally deal with them on a one-on-one basis when we meet our people and in communities,\u201d Lovell added.<\/p>\n

Pundits say the DNA which was launched earlier this month, is likely to hurt the main opposition more than the ruling Antigua Barbuda Labour Party administration.<\/p>\n

The DNA comprises mainly former members of the UPP who back Massiah\u2019s failed bid to lead the UPP.<\/p>\n
