Joanne Massiah launches new political party<\/p>

Member of Parliament for All Saints East and St Luke, Joanne Massiah, has launched the Democratic National Alliance, promising to change the culture of disillusionment with the current crop of political leaders.<\/p>\n

She said her entity will advocate for transnational leadership and changing how politics has been practiced in Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

Massiah who is a founding member of the DNA, said she would name candidates “after carnival.”<\/p>\n

She envisions a \u201cnew Antigua and Barbuda\u201d where residents can live out the motto, each endeavoring all achieving.<\/p>\n

Massiah told the launch of her party others in the past have failed to provide a reliable \u201csupply of water, electricity and modern road infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowth is only possible if we are prepared to change,\u201d the female MP said, while quoting the national anthem.<\/p>\n

She promised a 20-year development plan for the country called vision 20\/20.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe intend to give people hope\u2026our politics will be one of ideas,\u201d Massiah added.<\/p>\n

In February, Massiah was expelled from the United Progressive Party, after a nasty and public leadership battle, which saw her placed before a disciplinary committee of the UPP.<\/p>\n

The party’s colour is Orange, symbol the flower (rose).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
