The Miami-based National Hurricane Centre (NHC) in its 5.00 am (local time) bulletin said that Dorian, the fourth names storm of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane season had strengthen overnight and is expected to bring \u201ctropical conditions to the Windward Islands later today\u201d.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The storm was now located at about 225 miles, east south east of Barbados,, 335 miles east south east of St. Lucia, with maximum sustained winds of 60 miles per hour (mph).<\/p>\n

It is moving west at mph and tropical storm warnings have been issued for Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, while a tropical storm watch is in effect for Dominica, Martinique and Grenada and its dependencies.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/div>\n

The NHC said interests in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Hispaniola should monitor the progress of Dorian as watches could be required as early as later today.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

NHC said that the Dorian was located near latitude 11.9 North, longitude 56.4 West and a turn towards the west-northwest is expected later Monday, with this motion continuing through Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the forecast track, the center of Dorian is expected to be near the Windward Islands late today and tonight and move into the eastern Caribbean Sea on Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 60 mph with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is forecast during the next few<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

days, and Dorian could be near hurricane strength on Tuesday and and Wednesday while it is over the eastern Caribbean Sea,\u201d the NHC said.<\/p>\n

Dorian is considered to be \u201ca small tropical cyclone\u201d with tropical-storm-force winds extending outward up to 45 miles from the center.<\/p>

The storm is expected to produce total rain accumulations of two and four inches in Barbados, the Windward Islands, and Dominica through Tuesday. Isolated maximum amounts of six inches are possible in Barbados and the Windward Islands.<\/p>

\u201cSwells generated by Dorian will be affecting portions of the Lesser Antilles by late today. These swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions,\u201d the NHC warned.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, both CAL and LIAT said passengers will be allowed to rebook between August 25-28 and that \u201caffected passengers will have all change fees and fare differences waived for travel within the specified rebooking period\u201d.<\/p>\n
