The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) seeks to increase its Five Islands Station and as such customers in the area should expect power outages for the next two weeks.<\/p>

According to Jason Peters, Transmission and Distribution Engineer, the affected areas will include: All Saints Road, Bendals Road, Bath Lodge, Bendals Creek Side and Golden Grove.<\/p>\n

He added, “When we are doing this upgrade to that substation, we dont want those customers that that substation is feeding to be out of power, so we have decided to build a new feeder coming out of a different substation to aid in feeding those customers or providing electricity to those customers”.<\/p>

The new feeder will be constructed from the Bellmount Station<\/p>

There has been greater demand for electricity in the Five islands area beause of hotels and the soon to be open university of the West Indies.<\/p>\n

Public Relations Co-ordinator, Sharifa George, added that there will be a schedule published by Monday in the newspaper as well as she plans to use other mediums like Facebook and Antigua & Barbuda Today team.<\/p>
