Dr Jos\u00e9 Humphreys takes legal action against the Medical Council following their decision to remove his name from the Medical Register earlier this year.<\/p>

The deregistered doctor was told of the decision by a letter issued by the Council\u2019s registrar, Cicely Dorsett. This was subsequent to the documents Dr. Humphreys submitted this year, as ordered by the court, in his attempt to get his medical licence renewed, a process he started since September 2014.<\/p>\n

Dr. Jose Humphrey, along with help of his attorney David Dorsett, has recently filed the application to re-examine the Council’s decision within the legal three-month timeframe as sanctioned under the Medical Practitioners Act.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Previously, he had filed a similar appeal several years ago against the Council denying his request to renew his license to practice.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

However, the court ruled in favour of the Council stating that the Council had not refused to re-register to him because it was awaiting documents to support his application and he had not provided those documents.<\/p>\n

Additionally, upon the submission of his documents, the medical council stated that the institution from which Dr. Humphreys obtained his medical degree in 2011 \u2013 the American International School of Medicine (AISM) in Guyana \u2013 was not accredited at the time he completed his studies. The Council said that, to date, it is still not accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).<\/p>
