Officials within the Ministry of Social Transformation and Human Resource Development, staff
\nand trainees of the National Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre for persons with Disabilities,
\ngathered at the facility to bid farewell to Regan Calliste the Centre\u2019s director.
\nRegan Calliste or Mike as he is popularly called will be departing the shores of Antigua and
\nBarbuda the week of August 12- 16 2019 to pursue studies abroad and is slated to be away for four years.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cFarewell, you will be missed,\u201d were some of the sentiments expressed by Staff and trainees.
\nParents and friends of the trainees were at hand to share in the moment, many expressed their emotions through poetry, songs and dance.<\/p>\n

Since attaining the position of director three years ago, Calliste has developed a deep
\nrelationship with both staff and trainees. He has consistently sort ways to improve and
\ndeveloped the Centre\u2019s overall programme.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Under his tenure, an agricultural and computer training programme was introduced. The
\nSailability programme [sailing for the disabled] was enhanced as more of the Centre\u2019s trainees were given the opportunity to test their skills at the National sailing Academy.
\nThe moment was a bitter sweet one, many expressed their love and appreciation to him. For
\nsome he was a mentor, father figure, counselor, teacher and beloved friend but to him they
\nwere like family.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Addressing the gathering was Permanent Secretaries within the Ministry of Social
\nTransformation and Human Development – Sharon Stevens and Sandra Joseph who
\ncommended him for taking such a bold step.
\n\u201cI applaud Mr. Calliste for using his initiative to attend university so he can increase his
\nknowledge, thus allowing him to be in a better position to contribute to the development and
\nimprovement of the Centre.<\/p>\n

The road to success is never easy but stay focused, tell yourself positive things. Make a
\nconscious effort to re-programme your life, so you can apply yourself to your studies.\u201d She
