The Halo Foundation recently presented a cheque for $11,000 to Elizabeth Jordan , Founder of the National Sailing Academy \u00a0(NSA) in English Harbour. \u00a0The beneficiaries of this donation are the children of Barbuda, who are currently attending sailing summer camp for two weeks. \u00a0 The camp commenced on Monday July 15, and skills in basic dinghy sailing and safety practices are being imparted by instructors of the NSA.<\/p>

The sailing camp is the initiative of the Halo Foundation, which partnered with SailAid UK to fund the program. Cuthbert Forbes, PRO of Halo, remarked: \u201cWe immediately approached the NSA to work with the Barbuda children who were at the time residing in Antigua, to get them involved in both sailing and swimming. Interest was quite low in the beginning, and so we are quite pleased that the NSA has transported the vessels and equipment to Barbuda, and that the young people of our sister isle are now being instructed in this very important and enjoyable skill\u201d.<\/p>\n

A post on the National Sailing Academy Facebook page read: \u201cBeautiful today to see the confidence of the Barbudan kids in the water and the fact that they are taking so quickly to being on the water. \u00a0Some youths were already confident enough today to take boats out on their own. \u00a0Each day we are there, the numbers are swelling and families are loving the positivity of having the programme available to their kids. \u00a0A huge thanks to the Halo Foundation Antigua for making this happen\u201d.<\/p>
