United Progressive Party leader Harold Lovell says Prime Minister Gaston Browne has started on the wrong as he seeks to resolve the Sandals closure issue.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Lovell, who was speaking to Observer Radio says this closure could have serious implications for the economy and should be handled differently by the prime minister.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would have thought that as Prime Minister and as a state\u2019s man (he would handle the matter better) before flinging arrows.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He says the seriousness of this matter requires a different approach.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cThis matter will have very severe implications for the entire economy of Antigua and Barbuda, it is not something you can joke around with. It\u2019s not something you can be careless with this requires mature, serious, thoughtful approach.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lovell was at the time responding to statement made by the Prime Minister on state television.<\/p>

Browne said the five-month closure of Sandals, \u201cappears to be an act of hostility against the government and people of Antigua and Barbuda.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said Sandals is upset because concessions on food and beverages were not immediately granted.<\/p>

The Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union in a press conference on Monday announced the closure of the hotel for five months commencing September 20th.<\/p>

This is the first time in twenty-five that the hotel has closed.<\/p>\n
