Antigua and Barbuda and the Dominican Republic have signed an air services agreement as the two countries seek to deepen their relations.<\/p>

The agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation on risk management and disasters were among the highlights of the opening of a new Dominican Republic embassy here over the last weekend.<\/p>\n

Foreign Affairs Minister ET Chet Greene and his Dominican Republic counterpart Miguel Vargas participated in the ceremony on Sunday and according to a statement issued afterwards Greene said that \u201cthe decision by the government of the Dominican Republic to proceed with plans to construct an embassy in Antigua and the invitation of the \u2026government is testimony of the strong of the strong ties that exist between the two car8ibbean countries.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

\u2018The opening of the embassy is\u00a0 a step forward for Antigua and Barbuda and the Dominican Republic who shared ties of geography and history, noting that a significant number of Dominican Republic nationals reside in Antigua and Barbuda\u201d.<\/p>

Vargas said he was looking forward \u201cto the deepening ties between the two nations, especially with the opening of the embassy\u2019 noting that natural disasters are something the Caribbean states must face from time to time.<\/p>\n
