Chief Health Inspector Lionel Michael has said the removal of expired food from supermarkets is a routine practice.<\/p>

He spoke to our reporter after inspectors from the Central Board of Health removed a variety of expired items from a supermarket on Factory Road. (Antigua News Room earlier reported that it was Chase but the owners have since confirmed that this is not the location in question). We apologize for wrongly identifying the business.<\/p>\n

Chase says no expired goods have been removed in the last three months.<\/p>

The business in question is Cash Saver or Oops.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Michael said he doesn\u2019t know why there is a hoopla around this issue given that items have also been removed from a number of other establishments for the year.<\/p>\n

It is an offense to sell expired goods to members of the public who are always asked to check the expiry date on items before purchasing.<\/p>

It is a common practice in Antigua & Barbuda for merchants to reduce the prices on items that will soon expire.<\/p>\n

Among the goods removed where canned foods, bread, dairy products, candies and other none-perusable items.<\/p>
