Acting Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney has been discussing a proposal which would result in smaller but more Police Stations spread across the country.<\/p>

A statement from Cabinet said because transportation is more readily available police officers seldom live at the police stations anymore.<\/p>

“The use of smaller buildings would significantly reduce both the capital cost to build stations, or the annual expense to rent or lease privately-owned properties. Increasing the number of outposts could then be achieved within a budget that serves presently to meet the cost of relatively large buildings and living quarters,” the statement said.<\/p>

The Cabinet agreed to have the Ministry of Works collaborate with the Police Department in plotting the future rental needs or construction requirements, and the absolute number of outposts which can reasonably fit within the annual budget.<\/p>\n
