Two convicted murderers were given hope of re-entering society when the court of appeal set aside their life sentences this week.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lasana Riley of Hatton and Jervony Richards of Bendals were convicted of the murder of Rondel George.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

George and Kelvin Galloway were ambushed as they drove along a dirt road in Bendals in August 2010.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Riley fired his weapon killing George and injuring Galloway with the same bullet.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The robbers were both found guilty to murder by a jury in 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the appeal hearing, both men appealed their sentence and Riley also appeal his conviction.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The convictions were upheld but new sentences were imposed as the court of appeal ruled there was no evidence that the appellants could not be rehabilitated.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For his role in the crime, Riley was given a new sentence of 35 years in prison with a period of review for early release after he serves 20 years of his sentence.<\/span><\/p>

Richards was sentenced to 25 years with a period of review after 15 years.<\/span><\/p>
