Prime Minister Gaston Brown has prematurely ended his time at the 38th regular meeting of the Conference Heads of Government currently underway in Grenada.<\/p>

Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant says “the prime minister is indeed back on the island to address matters of state.”<\/p>\n

Merchant told Antigua News Room that “the prime minister would have made his contributions on matters of which he is directly involved.”<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“In addition, Antigua and Barbuda has a very competent delegation at the summit in the persons of minister Charles Fernandez and ambassadors Colin Murdoch and Dr Clarence Henry and Foreign Service Officer Babu Browne.”<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He says\u00a0the\u00a0members of Antigua and Barbuda’s delegation “are capable of representing the positions of the government. They are also in close contact with the honourable\u00a0(PM)\u00a0were they \u00a0require his guidance on any matter.”<\/p>\n

But Real FM in Grenada is reporting that “Antigua’s Prime Minister leaves unfinished business at CARICOM meeting.”<\/p>

The media house says Browne “returned to his country Wednesday morning.”<\/p>\n

Three other reporters from other media houses in Grenada also reported Browne’s departure.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The radio station says according to its sources, Browne ‘s action comes on the heels of Prime Minister Keith Mitchell’s statements at the opening ceremony on Tuesday in St. George’s relating to the state of affairs of West Indies Cricket.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Dr. Mitchell blamed Browne and \u00a0Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit for making public statements contrary to the position agreed to by Caricom.<\/p>\n

Although he did not call them by name Browne was vocal in his opposition to the position taken by Caricom to disband the West Indies Cricket Board.<\/p>\n

The Caricom meeting ends on Thursday with the closed door sessions currently under way.<\/p>\n
