Prime Minister Gaston Browne has told the opposition-friendly media house, the Observer Media Group, that he will stand up against their \u201cfake news” and efforts to defame him.<\/p>

Writing on his official Antigua Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) Facebook page, Browne made it clear that he doesn\u2019t intend to stand idly by and allow the privately-owned media house to attack him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be a sure push back,\u201d Browne warned.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Prime Minister who is in Grenada for a meeting of regional leaders said: \u201cIf they operate professionally and responsibly, by reporting accurate information, we will extend full respect, cooperation and support for their organization.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

But he vowed to \u201cstand against irresponsible fake news and those with malicious intent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this stage, I have everything to gain firing back at OMG and everything to lose, acting like a sitting duck, and\u00a0allow their fake news to go uncontroverted,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>

\u201cIf they want peace and decency, then there will be peace and decency. If they continue to pursue ignoble motives, then they will be challenged and fought relentlessly,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister told readers that he doesn\u2019t want to discredit the company but to hold them responsible for \u201cundermining and defaming with impunity.\u201d<\/p>
