Trouble is reported to be brewing at the St. John’s Magistrate’s Court if a previously assigned female police prosecutor fails to appear before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It was reported that Head of the Police Prosecutions Department, Assistant Superintendent Jeffrey Morgan had recommended the re-assignment of the female prosecutor.<\/p>

This was said to have provoked the ire in the Chief Magistrate since no formal communication was received by the Clerk to the Magistrate.<\/p>\n

Reliable sources revealed that the prosecutor was said to be involved in several part-heard matters, which are pending completion before the Chief Magistrate.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/div>\n

The police high command was said to be circumspect that some eight part-heard cases have been set for hearing on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Over the weekend, the prosecutor was reportedly informed that she will be reassigned to another department and will be replaced by another prosecuting officer.<\/p>\n

However, the Chief Magistrate would have none of that until all of the partially-heard matters are completed.<\/p>

It was also revealed that Acting Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney has already sanctioned the re-assignment, with directions that the re-assigned prosecutor be available to complete the part-heard cases..<\/p>\n

The re-asignment was said to be in keeping with his administrative and operational responsibilities to ensure greater efficiency and effectiveness by providing opportunities to prospective, but competent personnel to develop and improve their prosecutorial skills.<\/p>
