Nine students vying for the title of Junior Minister of Tourism participated in a pre-competition interview and meeting with the Hon. H. Charles Fernandez, Minister of Tourism and Investment ahead of the 2019 National Tourism Youth Congress slated for Wednesday June 19,2019.<\/p>

Acting Manager of the Tourism Education, Training and Awareness Unit within the Ministry of Tourism and Investment, Ms. Tracey Browne said the National Tourism Youth Congress provides a forum for students between the ages of 14 to 17 to share their ideas about the future direction of Caribbean tourism<\/p>\n

The points attained during the pre-competition interview will go towards the participants overall score and the student who is adjudged the national winner will join other Junior Ministers of Tourism and Commissioners of Tourism from across the region at the Caribbean Tourism Organization\u2019s Youth Congress which takes place during the State of the Industry Conference later this year.<\/p>

The Caribbean Tourism Youth Congress is an integral part of CTO\u2019s annual tourism conference and aims to stimulate greater awareness and excitement about tourism among young people in our Caribbean communities by allowing them to research various facets of the tourism sector and share their ideas and vision.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Youth Congress is structured to mirror the CTO Board of Director\u2019s meeting and participants are required to come prepared to share their knowledge and views with fellow Junior Ministers of Tourism and Commissioners of Tourism from across the region by presenting a 3-minute speech on one of the following topics; Smart Travel Experiences within the Caribbean Region, Equipping Our Youth to Thrive in a Changing Tourism Environment and Making Excellence a Habit in Caribbean Tourism; Additionally, the 2019 Tourism Youth Congress participants will be asked to address a mystery question.<\/p>\n

The 9 participants vying for the title of Junior Minister of Tourism at the National Tourism Youth Congress are; Alisha Alie of the All Saints Secondary School, Mekesha Browne of the Antigua State College, Damari Samuel of the St. Joseph\u2019s Academy, Cedric Park of the Antigua Grammar School, Chabely Benites of the Glanville\u2019s Secondary School, Jody-Anne Parker of the Antigua Girls High School, Yenique Walsh of the Clare Hall Secondary School, Rebecca Campos of the Ottos Comprehensive School and Kimberlee Warner of the St. Anthony\u2019s Secondary School.<\/p>
