Beach clean-ups are held worldwide on the 8th<\/sup>\u00a0of June each year in recognition of World Ocean\u2019s Day.<\/p>

The tour desk at Sandals Grande Antigua, Island Routes, is also celebrating its 10th<\/sup>\u00a0year of operations. \u00a0As such, the group organised a cleanup of Fort James Beach and its environs.<\/p>\n

Twelve First, Second and Fourth Form students at the Ottos Comprehensive School participated in the initiative on Saturday.<\/p>

Two teachers from the school and Sandals Foundation volunteers were also a part of the activity. Several garbage bags were collected and included items such as napkins, bottles, plates, cups, bottle covers, diapers and a tyre.<\/p>

The students were given a brief lesson on the importance of protecting the ocean and the role they can play in preserving the environment.<\/p>\n
