Officials said there is no end in sight for the ongoing road works at Friars Hill Road and Sir George Walter Highway.<\/span><\/p>

A legal dispute between the government and contractor, Bahama Hot Mix (BHM) slowed down the pace of the infrastructure project, which is funded by a grant from the United Kingdom.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe employer, the Government of Antigua & Barbuda and the Contractor are working together to ensure the successful implementation and completion of the project and we\u2019re working towards arriving at an end date with the contractor and as soon as we can narrow down that we\u2019ll be able to give you some definitive dates\u201d, Shawn Thomas recently told reporters at a press conference.<\/span><\/p>

Thomas is the Public Relations Officer for the Project Implementation Management Unit in the Ministry of Public Works.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cRight now there is a process ongoing, a legal process ongoing and a lot of what comes out that legal process affects that end date- duration or end date- date so to put something on the table right now will be highly incorrect and I think it would not be fair to the public to stipulate a certain date and that\u2019s not achieved\u201d, added BHM Representative, Sean Geiser.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe process is driven by the adjudicator so once the two parties have entered into the adjudication process, the adjudicator is the one that drives the process. So, it\u2019s not like you go to court, you have a hearing from a judge, you then take your time to make an appeal and you go back to court. This isn\u2019t a court scenario. It\u2019s a legal process under the contract that\u2019s bound within the contract conditions that both parties have signed to in the event of something arising such as we are not in\u201d, Geiser explained.<\/span><\/p>

When reporters pressed for details, Thomas said: \u201cthis is now before the adjudicator and both parties are making presentations and that is as much as we want to comment on that so as to no jeopardize the process\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n
