Prison Superintendent Albert Wade has been speaking about why he asked for his stint at Her Majesty\u2019s Prison to end.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Last week, Prison Officers protested the pending transfer of the prison boss who for the last three years has been on secondment at from the Royal Police Force of Antigua & Barbuda.<\/p>\n

But Wade told state television last night he requested the change because he has been overlooked for promotions within the force.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cI have been an Assistant Superintendent of Police since 2008. When you look at the force now with a number of senior positions opening up as people go on retirement, I just felt that I am being overlooked.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“Since I have been here a number of officers who were junior to me are now my seniors,” he said.<\/p>\n

Cabinet asked Wade to stay on while his replacement in recruited. Minister responsible for the prison Steadroy Cutie Benjamin has credited him with \u201cturning things around for the prison.\u201d<\/p>

However, Wade told ABS that when he inquired about opportunities for promotion, he was given a reason that he does not agree with.<\/p>\n

Wade was told he cannot be promoted while on secondment.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cIt is quite clear that all serving members are entitled to all the rights and privileges of a police officer. I am on secondment but I am still a police officer,\u201d he said.<\/p>

Since taking up the job no less than four promotions lists have been approved within the police force.<\/p>\n
