One local trade unionist has joined the call for the immediate resignation of the current management of LIAT.<\/p>

General Secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union David Massiah made the plea during the Trade Union Congress on Labour Day.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“The entire management has to go because if the shareholder government continue to give money to LIAT but yet still, every day that money goes in, all you hear is they calling workers to make sacrifices to take a pay cut and at the end of the day, the management continues to basically \u00a0to sit pretty” he said.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

Making reference to the fire that destroyed LIAT\u2019s hanger and other essential Massiah says inadequate management and the lack of backed up information has rendered the company unable to return the aircraft to its lessors.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

“What that meant is that a number of planes of LIAT could not be sent back to their lessors because they did not have information on the aircraft.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The ABWU boss says past board members must accept responsibility for the present state of LIAT.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

“Some of our shareholders and representatives of the board of Antigua and Barbuda a number of them who sit over the years need to be held accountable because they help put us in the raft as well, I am not talking about today but over the years.”<\/p>\n

Grenada recently became the fifth shareholder government of LIAT.<\/p>
