Prime Minister Gaston Browne has said that the country\u2019s long running water problem will be resolved \u201cin a matter of weeks.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He says that\u2019s based on the investments being made to construct more reverse osmosis plants.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been trying our endeavor best to resolve this issue and we are making progress,\u201d Browne told a radio programme.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He also appealed to residents to continue to conserve water while blaming the severity of the current situation on the United Progressive Party administration.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cThey literally mothballed Tango which was producing two million gallons of water per day,\u201d the prime minister said.<\/p>\n

He argued that the problem was inherited and sought to clarify a statement he made in June 2014 about improvements to the provision of water.<\/p>

\u201cI never said we will solve the water problem in 14 days I said there would be an improvement.\u201d<\/p>\n

A three-year drought has placed the country\u2019s already scarce water resources under significant pressure with the authorities implementing a strict water rationing schedule.<\/p>

Although some improvements have been recorded in recent weeks, the provision of a reliable supply of water on a regular basis remains a challenge.<\/p>
