Anything can happen at Antigua & Barbuda\u2019s soca tent.<\/p>

But if you\u2019re looking for the famous faces of Tian Winter and Claudette Peters, you might be in the wrong place.<\/p>\n

ANR Entertainment literally stumbled upon the venue, the Barefoot Beach Bar, while returning from another event.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The event is not well promoted judging that by 11 p.m. there were only 60 patrons present, many of them performers.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

But where it lacks in promotion, it makes up in fun, laughter, \u001band entertainment.<\/p>\n

It is only at the soca tent that you\u2019ll see Weather Man heat up a sleeping crowd, with an energetic performance of Coming Down,<\/em> the tune he plans to use for this year\u2019s competition.<\/p>

And Oh Gosh!<\/em>\u00a0there are performers like Kelley who can wine and wink up, a first timer at the tent but you couldn\u2019t tell.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s one to watch as the audience agreed his song isn\u2019t just tent material.<\/p>

The quality of singing ranges significantly at the soca tent but the crowd is appreciative and you are guaranteed a good laugh at the end of the night.<\/p>

Every Wednesday from 8 p.m. the venue is abuzz with energy as budding soca artiste are anxious to show off their craft.<\/p>\n

Take Rockabella for example who is singing soca for the first time and is honest about why.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need the money because my house is really rotten,\u201d she told ANR.<\/p>\n

She also enjoys the rush of performing with a live band as some of the singers do but more importantly the soca tent \u201cgives me an opportunity to make mistakes\u201d.<\/p>\n

As the small but appreciative crowd cheers on the soca monarch hopefuls, it\u2019s also an opportunity to pick out the next rising stars.<\/p>\n

Like Leon Norville who did an impromptu performance of his Back it and roll it<\/em> and Ishane a former semi-finalist who performed Leh we jam<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It’s advised that if you go to the soca tent go with an open mind because anything can happen.<\/p>\n

Like the joy you get from seeing Soca Blacks perform with his two-year-old son and seeing guys like Zocio never give up on his dreams.<\/p>\n
