Three people, including a 14-year-old girl secondary school student, were shot and killed as police said they came under gunfire in western Trinidad on Friday night.<\/p>

\u201cAn exchange of gunfire resulted in three persons being fatally wounded. The injured police officer is currently being treated\u201d the police said in a statement late on Friday night.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>They said they were attempting to arrest a suspect in Carenage, west of here, on an outstanding warrant, when one of the men associated with the suspect, drew a firearm and shot a police officer.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/div>\n

\u201cAn exchange of gunfire resulted in three persons being fatally wounded,\u201d the statement said, adding that police officers and members of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment \u201care maintaining a heavy presence in the Carenage District\u201d.\u2019<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Those killed have been identified as 14-year-old Naomi Nelson, a student of the Mucurapo West Secondary School and a member of the Western Division Police Youth Club, Keron \u201cFrosty\u201d Eve, 30, and Kareem Roberts Baldwin.<\/p>\n

The police said that six other people, including the police officer, were injured as a result of the shootout.<\/p>

The police said the investigations into the matter \u201cremain active\u201d. They did not say whether the man with the outstanding warrant had been detained.<\/p>\n
